Warrior Deluxe Explicit Version Ke
The most anticipating sophomore album, from pop star sensation Ke$ha, was sure to hit big numbers in record sales. Despite the low average of $$ it picked up on its first week release, people have been raving on how amazingly infectious this album is. Being a huge fan of hers when she first hit the scene with Tik Tok, I fell in love! I downloaded a few tracks from her debut album "Animal" and thought "Hey, these songs are pretty badass, let me finish downloading the whole record!" Boy am I glad I did, every song on that album defines what pop culture is all about! I had it on repeat in my car, in the shower, in my room, just everywhere! "Cannibal" then came around and was an outstanding companion to her first album. It showed a more sensitive side to Ke$ha with "The Harold Song" and "C U Next Tuesday." After the summer hit single "Blow" started to die down on the radio, she disappeared. She went off the radar for a whole year. Interviews started to pick up on what to expect on her new record and it made me anticipate the album even more! December 4th, 2012 finally came around and when it did, you bet your little patootie I was the first one in line to buy it. After anxiously unwrapping the CD in my car (explicit version) and fed it to my CD player, Warrior began. I nearly fainted driving home. Each song was giving me an eargasm!! I couldn't help notice the departure from what "Animal" sounded like but definitely not in bad way. It's like she reinvented herself into something bigger and better. I admire the fact she took the route of less atuo-tune and showcase more of her vocals because the woman can sing! There is not one single song on this album I dislike, even though "Wherever You Are" had me at hitting the skip button the first couple of times. She's come a long way and this is her best work to date. I can't wait for her to go on tour and sing these beautiful songs live. If you're an animal and loved her previous work, this is not to be overlooked, or just anyone who has a knack for fun dance tracks, this is jam-packed with them. Do yourself a favor and don't think twice about making this purchase, DO IT NOW, you sincerely won't regret it :)

I've been a Ke$ha fan since she began her career. I love all her CD's but WARRIOR has to be the best. Any Ke$ha fan would love this album. She still puts the D in Dance. All the tracks are catchy and meaningful. This CD is great to dance to and sing along.
BalasHapusGreat CD. The wait for it to be released was more than worth it. Kesha did an amazing job with this CD :)
BalasHapusKesha is a talented songwriter and song arranger. All the songs on WARRIOR express a savviness of what pop music can be when exhaustive work is put into both performance and production. Each song is CRAFTED. The hook presents itself almost immediately, followed by clever, bratty verses. The lush vocals are often layered and harmonized to perfection, realizing a soundscape of voice and beats. Each song embraces spacey bridges where step-phasers and counter-beat percussive elements redefine what you just heard. Then you're back at it hard and heavy.
BalasHapusI appreciate the amount of time and effort that went into the production of WARRIOR. The pop genre would be given a great service if each performer and producer paid this much attention to their efforts.
Buy the deluxe version. It's only a little more money and a lot more awesomeness! Gold Trans Am might be the best song on the entire album. No disappointement here. Buy it and buy it now!
BalasHapusEven though I'm practically middle aged at this point, I found myself drawn to Kesha early on. I remember seeing pictures of her online with glitter and paint on her face and ripped clothing. She was mercilessly bashed in the comments sections. The more people made fun of her the more I was drawn to her. Then I realized why. I've always been somewhat introverted and never really fit in. Kesha simply wasn't your traditional female popstar. She still seems really uncomfortable in that role. She's not an acceptable girl like Kelly Clarkson or an irreverent but still acceptable girl like Katy Perry. But she's still relatable because she's not too different like Gaga.
BalasHapusKesha Sebert is a hippie raised by a hippie mother. She rejects a lot of social norms and doesn't really fit in despite her high SAT scores and acceptance letters to Ivy League colleges. She's a world famous popstar who can't walk in high heels. Kesha's irreverence was on full display in her debut album Animal and Cannibal EP. Her vulnerability was also on display in songs like Dancing with Tears in my Eyes and The Harold Song.
But Warrior presents Kesha's personality a little more. Although she will still go over the heads of many people who simply don't get her or her music, like those who create fake negative "reviews" of her albums even though they've never listened to them. Many of the cool kids in high school probably still won't get her but the bullied kids likely will. And you'll always have the hipsters who think they're too cool to listen to a pop artist. But many adults who never thought they would like a Kesha album (or would never admit they did) will find a lot to like on this more mature effort.
Kesha knows that many outsiders are drawn to her. She directly addresses people who are hostile to her and others. Some of her songs like Warrior and Crazy Kids are rallying cries to the misfits. She's giving her haters the middle finger and telling them she doesn't care what they think. Later though, in the beautiful song Love Into the Light, she asks people to stop being so hateful and judgmental and simply have love for others. You don't get more hippie than that.
Warrior has some great party songs although some seem more somber than those on Animal. All That Matters is a party song, yet she seems sad that the good times have to end and she'll have to go back to being responsible. In Out Alive she tells us we're all going to die, so enjoy life now. Think of it as a depressing but far superior version of Die Young.
She promised us country (she has a country music background and even recorded a few country songs in her teens) and rock and she definitely delivers on songs like Thinking of You, Gold Trans Am, Wonderland and Dirty Love. She also has an amazing psychedelic track called Past Lives with Wayne Coyne and a gritty synth-based club song called Supernatural.
There isn't one bad song on Warrior. Every song is good to great. There's nothing on Warrior that beats the silly fun of Tik Tok and Stephen, the rallying cries to the misfits of We R Who We R and Blow or the fun but angry Dinosaur, Cannibal and Sleazy. Yet I still feel that Warrior is a better album. Tracks like Past Lives and Supernatural (especially the version on the Deconstructed EP) do rival the beauty of the title track on Animal. Last Goodbye and Wonderland are as good as the sad songs on Animal + Cannibal. Thinking of You beats the anger in Kiss and Tell as she rips apart a cheating ex. And she's got some great love songs.
I think Kesha may have successfully broadened her appeal with this album. It should open the minds of some who have been very close-minded about her and her music. But it will also be appealing to the vast majority of her existing fan base as well. Add to that, we actually get to hear her beautiful singing voice more. Overall, a job well done.
Every single song in the album has a deep message. In a few you want to dance, in a few you can see Ke$ha's signature: giving the finger to the haters, ans the others talk about love. You won't regret buying Warrior.
