His Risk to Take ebook
Holy hotness, Tessa Bailey. I don't know where she comes up with the steamy lines that are delivered through the mouths of her Line of Duty heroes, but I want to set up camp inside her mind. I absolutely loved her debut novel, Protecting What's His, and was ecstatic to receive an ARC of her new novella, His Risk to Take, from Entangled Ever After.
Unlike other series in Entangled's Brazen line, His Risk to Take is only loosely connected to its predecessor. The setting shifts from Chicago to New York, following the NYPD's newest transfer, Troy Bennett. After a week on the job, Troy heads to a dive bar with a couple colleagues, where he meets Ruby - a self-described lifelong gambler equipped with her own custom-made pool stick.
On paper, a cop and a professional hustler appear to be polar opposites, yet Troy an Ruby are inexplicably drawn to each other, each fascinated by the challenge the other presents. Years of being dependent solely on herself taught Ruby to be careful and calculating, yet her desire to become better acquainted with Troy's dominant nature finds her curiosity overruling reason.
"This man wasn't typical in any sense of the word."
Ruby's vastly understated assessment of Troy pinpoints exactly why he is such a captivating fictional hero. It's hard to find fault with a man whose biggest problem is finding a woman capable of enjoying his wonderfully vivid imagination, which he channels towards all things naughty.
Though sexually compatible, both Ruby and Troy have personal issues which prevent them from lowering their emotional inhibitions. Troy's need to conquer and protect is challenged by Ruby's independent and defiant personality, making for an interesting dynamic between the couple, both in and out of the bedroom.
In addition to their no-nonsense attitudes, Bailey's heroines have a knack for getting themselves into trouble with their reckless behavior. It's perhaps fitting that their would-be saviors are cops, who happen to make excellent romantic interests. I can't wait to read the next installment in Tessa Bailey's Line of Duty series.

This is the first book I've read by Tessa Bailey and I can tell you right now it won't be my last. Again I find myself having a hard time putting into words how much I enjoyed this book. Troy and Ruby are both hurt by things in their past and each have some things to work through. This book had me laughing, crying, sighing, and all hot and bothered. By the end of the book I was so attached to the characters that I immediately posted on FB how much I loved it and that I couldn't wait for more. While I'm writing this it has been about 24 hours since I finished reading the book and I still can't let go of Troy and Ruby. I have a feeling there is at least one more book in this series-hopefully two!! I strongly feel that you will not regret buying this book. Forget what i have to say about it-go read it for yourself and find out how great it is!!
I'm always on the quest for the holy grail of books; that book which is perfect in every sense of the word. His Risk To Take is that rare gem that shines brilliantly in every way. With a sassy heroine, grade A alpha hero, dialogue that flows beautifully, an interesting plot and mind-blowing sex scenes, this book has every element that I search for. When I find a book of this caliber, I want to shout it from the rooftops. Tessa Bailey is now and forever on my automatic buy list. Snatch up every book you can find by this author. She is worth her weight in gold!
BalasHapusTwo out of two for Tessa Bailey!!
BalasHapusFor such a short story His Risk to Take packs a punch with great characters, who have a great banter and a steamy sizzling connection.
Troy a ex Chicago cop has moved towns after the death of his partner. He runs into Ruby as she is hustling some money out of someone in a pool game. He has an instant desire for this woman, but little does he know that she is closer to a case he is working than he knows. To close for comfort.
I really enjoyed every single moment of this book. The story although short, did not feel rushed at all. In fact my only complaint about this book would be that it was too short. I would have liked more time with these two characters as their steamy connection was burning up the pages before my eyes.
Tessa Bailey is quickly becoming an author that I will be keeping my eye on, she writes just the type of hero that I like to see in my romance books with female characters that I can relate to.
Keep the awesomeness coming Ms Bailey!!
